Staining on attic wood means that surface has been wet repeatedly. The moisture usually comes from warm indoor air condensing on a cold surface, from a fan discharging into the attic, or from a roof leak. Treating the surface without correcting the source is why attic mold comes back, so the source is identified and addressed in the same project rather than quoted later.
