How an Attic Insulation Top-Up Works

An attic insulation top-up adds new loose-fill insulation over suitable existing insulation to increase thermal resistance and improve coverage. Before installation, Eco-Therma reviews accessible attic conditions, existing insulation depth, ventilation pathways and problem areas.

Existing insulation does not always need to be removed. Removal may be recommended when insulation is wet, contaminated, mold-affected, pest-damaged, heavily compacted or unsuitable for covering.

A successful attic top-up depends on proper depth, even coverage and professional installation.

Why Attic Insulation Coverage Matters

Attic insulation works best when it forms a continuous and evenly distributed thermal barrier. Low spots, gaps, compressed areas and inconsistent depth can allow heat to move more easily through the ceiling below.

Installation Depth and Density Matter

Blown-in insulation must be installed to the appropriate settled depth and coverage for the approved R-value. Simply adding a few bags does not guarantee consistent performance across the attic.
